Family  Programs

 

MONDAY TAILS & TRAILS - FAMILY   This family program meets each Monday from 11am to Noon from June 4 through August 27.  Listen to a story and visit with a live animal, then venture out on the woodsy trails of Green Briar in search of critter clues.  Walk is rain or shine, so dress appropriately.  Suitable for families with children ages 3 and up.  The fee is $2 for Society members, $4 non-members.  Reservations are recommended by calling 508-888-6870.

TUESDAY TWEETS - ADULT/FAMILY   This Bird Watching Walk and Talk is offered on the following Tuesday mornings from 11:00am to 12:30pm:  June 12, June 19, June 26, July 3, July 10, July 24, August 21 and August 28.  Whether an experienced birder or a beginner, walk the trails of the Briar Patch, bring binoculars, wear appropriate footwear and come prepared to watch,  study and enjoy our feathered friends in their natural habitat.  The fee is $4 for Society members, $6 non-members. BIRD WATCHING FOR BEGINNERS - FAMILY  This family program is offered on the following Thursday mornings from 11:00am to 12:30pm: June 28, July 19 and August 16.  Learn basic skills to identify birds through sight and sound.  Then venture outdoors to view birds in their natural habitat.  Pick up ideas for promoting bird watching in your own yard.  Adults, families, homeschoolers, pre-schoolers, vacationers all welcome.  The fee is $4 for Society members, $6 non-members.  Call 508-888-6870 to register. 

CRITTER CAPERS at GREEN BRIAR

Cape Cod legendary storyteller, Thornton W. Burgess, wrote about the local creatures he discovered growing up in Sandwich, MA.  He hoped to inspire children to love and respect these animals just as he did.  Come listen to a story while visiting one of Green Briar's critters. Create an animal themed craft, play a game, discover nature at the heart of Thornton Burgess legacy. Suitable for families with children ages 2 and up.  Advance registration is not required.

FRIDAYS at 11am  
 Members: Free    Non-members: $2 per person


  • REPTILES ROCK FAMILY SHOW

This special show with a Rainforest Reptile Herpetologist will be offered two times on Thursday, July 12 at 10:00am and again at 12:30pm.  The hands-on mini zoo includes bugs, frogs, snakes and lizards plus 4 larger animals including a tortoise, a lizard, a boa or python, and an alligator.  Throughout the presentation there will be opportunities for volunteers to assist.  The fee is $10 for Society members, $12 non-members.  It is suggested that you register by calling 508-888-6870 as space is limited.  

  • AMAZING ANIMAL AMBASSADORS FAMILY SHOW

This special show conducted by Bethany Jakubson, Owner of Amazing Animal Ambassadors, will be offered two times on Wednesday, August 1 at 10:00am and again at 12:30pm.   Her presentation includes the talking Sulfur Crested Cockatoo, Boomerang the Kookaburra, Big Red the Lizard, Milo the Fennec Fox and Bailey the African Pygmy Hedgehog plus an assortment of smaller reptiles and insects.   The fee is $10 for Society members, $12 non-members.  It is suggested that you register by calling 508-888-6870 as space is limited.

 

HAVE A SPECIAL BIRTHDAY PARTY at Green Briar

Have a fun and educational birthday party at Green Briar. We provide a one to two hour program with a naturalist with an additional hour allowed for "party" time.
