GROUPS ARE WELCOME The Thornton Burgess Society welcomes groups to both its Museum located on Shawme Pond, Sandwich Village and the Green Briar Nature Center and Jam Kitchen located on historic property made famous by the stories of author and naturalist Thornton W. Burgess. The 109 year old Jam Kitchen located off Route 6A, East Sandwich, is a living museum where jams, jellies and relish are available for tasting during your visit. They are still made the old-fashioned way in a unique sun-cooking operation. The gift shop is filled with delicious products, Thornton Burgess' children's books and a variety of nature related gifts, books and toys. The Nature Center hosts a small live animal display as well as natural history related exhibits. You can also visit the award winning Wildflower Garden, an herb garden and a lovely whimsical garden. Bus parking is located at the Nature Center and visitors should spend at least an hour enjoying all the sights. For group reservations, please email joan@thorntonburgess.org or call Joan at 508-888-6870. Advance reservations are a must due to children's educational programs scheduled at the Nature Center during summer. A per person admission rate is charged and due at time of arrival or can be arranged by credit card payment, when the reservation is made. We take MC, Visa and Discover. We look forward to working with your groups.
