The Thornton W. Burgess Society is a non-profit educational organization dedicated "to inspire reverence for wildlife and concern for the natural environment" in the tradition of author and naturalist Thornton Waldo Burgess. The Society serves its members through a Program Schedule, the newsletter, Briar Patch Observer; the Robert Swain Library; and classes and workshops for children, adults and families. Members receive a 10% discount for gift shop and mail order purchases, (including jam kitchen products) and most classes. Members also have the satisfaction of knowing they are supporting the cause of conservation and preservation of our natural and historical heritage. The Society’s membership is currently over 2,000 nationwide.
