Join Naturalist, Phil Kyle for a bird walk focused on identifying the common resident birds, rare birds, and migrant breeders. He will include some birding basics: birding by ear, how to use Cornell Lab of Ornithology’s free app Merlin, and how to best use binoculars and a bird field guide. Birding changes seasonally and the migrants from Canada and northern New England start heading south this time of year. The bird walk will focus on sighting and identifying some of these species as they rest and refuel here in September and October. Bring binoculars, and a cell phone, and a birding field guide if you have it.
Phil has led birding trips for more than 20 years. Currently he volunteers at the Wellfleet Bay Audubon Sanctuary in the summers as a Naturalist/Educator and is a winter docent at the Cape Cod Museum of Natural History. He has presented programs to schools, assisted living institutions, museums, libraries, and garden clubs. Phil graduated from Cornell University with a B.S. in Biology.
